Hello,
I’m Nicola. I am a certified Wayfinder Life Coach through the Martha Beck Institute, and an Integral Coach through UCT's Graduate School of Business. I have an educational background in Psychology and Organisational Psychology and a career in Marketing. I’ve worked across South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States over the past twenty years.
And the most important things I know, I learned from watching. Watching people, watching myself, and watching nature. What I noticed was that someone or something that understands themselves and has learned to navigate from their integrity is one of the most powerful forces there is.
That navigation — finding your own way through your life, using your own deepest instincts as the compass — is what I now do with the clients I work with.
I'm not a life coach in the normal sense. I'm a Wayfinder. What I'm good at is helping you find your natural way — the expansion that only you know how to embrace. I help you discover and access your sovereign integrity and actualise it into your way of life.
Let’s have some fun and find out who you really are, and what your life is asking of you.
What I Believe
I believe most people are inherently kind and hold a reverence for life. We want to live in interrelationship with living systems that are thriving.
Unearthing a person's integrity is the highest-leverage way to heal how we treat ourselves, each other, and the earth we're part of.
That’s why I coach.
-
People aren't something to fix. They're something to find. I've never sat across from someone who needed fixing — I've sat across from people who'd gone looking for themselves and lost the trail for a while.
People aren't broken — they're buried. Underneath the conditioning, they're kind, curious, and want to belong.
Something gets put in the way of that natural kindness — usually fear, and not feeling like they're enough.
-
It shows up as unease, as disease, as the less kind versions of a person — angry, offensive, submissive, all the traits that aren't very nice to be around. You can feel it in a room. Integrity is the opposite of that: acting from the real you, your honest and authentic self. This shows up as ease and as a pull towards something, even if it requires a lot of effort.
-
I don't think kindness and integrity are two separate things to work on. Kindness is just what the real, unburied self looks like once it’s allowed to resurface after being buried underneath conditioning.
-
Even the moments you didn't choose. I don't believe everything happens for a reason. Bad things happen that aren't anyone's choice - some things are just accidents, or someone else's cruelty, and I won't pretend those were chosen. But there's still a next choice after that, every time. Challenges are a part of life. A beautiful part of life. They allow us to experience many of the different offerings of life. You get to choose how you approach your challenges and your life.
-
And each one deserves honouring, not shame. Moving into a new version of yourself doesn't mean the old one was wrong. It was just where you were. I think of each phase as an offering, not something to be embarrassed about outgrowing, or needing to forget. You can drop the old version of you, honour and thank that version and move into this new version of you that makes you happier now.
-
We’ve just been socialised out of knowing how to hear our own truth. This is the power of Wayfinder Coaching – it has a multitude of tools that help you access and act from your integrity again. Intuition and inner knowing first, then evidence and lived experience to back it up.
-
By choosing to grow. It's by doing the work. It's by putting in the time to reflect on how you are being in the world and then do the coaching work to unpack it in a way that helps you to do it differently. Insight alone isn't enough — change requires an event (chosen or unchosen, good or bad: moving home, being promoted, starting something new, a divorce, a marriage, a new job, choosing to start a family) followed by reflection and effort. The reflection component of this can take years, and it can go deep. This is life. Life is long, don’t feel the need to rush it. Consciousness plus effort, not effort alone and not insight alone.
-
We're a very young species still learning. I worked in biomimicry for a while and that's shaped how I see almost everything, including people. We are nature, not separate from it, and we still have a huge amount to learn. Nature's been doing this far longer than we have. Everything is connected — even when that feels a little frightening. Nature is deeply intelligent; humans are a very young species still learning from it. There's more energy/reality around us than we can perceive with the mind alone.
-
A felt sense, backed up afterwards by evidence and lived experience. I'm very attuned to what's underneath what someone's actually saying. The value I bring, more than any technique, is that I see people. Often the thing that's in the way for someone is something nobody else has named out loud yet.
-
Not just managed or optimised. I believe that the point is to actually live it — the ordinary parts and the extraordinary parts. The point is to experience being human fully: mundane and extravagant both, not just growth or lessons. Be as gracious and helpful as possible along the way.
